Five robbers hold Jaito family hostage

Jaito, Five unidentified youths today looted a household here after holding all members of the family hostage. The gang members fled with cash and jewellery worth more than Rs 5 lakh and two licensed weapons.
Sandeep Kumar, the victim and owner of two rice mills, said five youths armed with sharp weapons barged into their house and ties them with ropes. They then collected cash, jewellery and two pistols and fled in a car.
Baljinder Singh Sandhu, DSP, said they had sounded alert in the area and were collecting details of the incident. “We are procuring footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby to identify the culprits,” said the DSP.
This is the third robbery in the town in the last three weeks when robbers held the family members hostage before committing the crime.
