Expect lots of changes in team: Kohli

Dambulla, August 21
Skipper Virat Kohli said that there will be “a lot of changes” in the coming days as the team starts drawing a roadmap for the 2019 World Cup. “I think we need to start planning for the 2019 World Cup. You have to prepare 24 months in advance. We are taking that as a challenge and are looking to try out different things,” Kohli said.
“We’re going to experiment. You can see a lot of changes. All the guys have bought into it. It’s all about what gives us more balance,” he added. Kohli’s comments have come at a time when questions are being raised about the future of MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. The skipper was full of praise for Shikhar Dhawan. “The last three months have been great for Shikhar Dhawan. The good thing is, he is capitalising on his purple patch. He can win you games with the way he bats and we would be looking to keep him in that zone for as long as we can,” said Kohli.
Asked about the move to play Axar Patel in place of Kuldeep Yadav, he said, “We thought Axar is a gun fielder and felt one wrist spinner is enough. Also, Axar is a useful batsman and that helps us. It’s the start of the series and it’s about getting the batting right.”
