Doug Ford’s campaign schedules fundraiser, creates election website

Toronto, Doug Ford’s election campaign appears to be slowly ramping up; one day after doctors announced that the mayor has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
The elder Ford has been relatively quiet ever since registering to run in his brother’s place last week, but on Thursday a flyer promoting a fundraiser for his campaign on Sept. 25 at the Woodbine Banquet and Convention Hall was released.
The flyer lists a ticket price of $125 and promises a “great evening and dinner!”
Meanwhile, Ford’s councillor website was updated on Wednesday night to reflect his candidacy for mayor.
The website, which uses Rob Ford’s election slogan “Putting Taxpayers First,” does not have much content right now but urges visitors to “check back soon.”
The website also lists the phone number for Rob Ford’s election headquarters on Lawrence Avenue in Scarborough.
Earlier this week, crews removed the “Rob” from the sign outside the office so it just read “Ford for Mayor.”
Though Doug Ford is expected to borrow heavily from his brother’s election platform, little is actually known about what he will campaign on.
Asked earlier this week about when he would be providing more information Doug Ford said that he just wanted to “get over this little hump with Rob” first.
Rob Ford is expected to undergo chemotherapy sometime in the next 48 hours.
