Defending champion Novak Djokovic and Spanish tennis maestro Rafael Nadal produced contrasting performances as they progressed through to the third round of the Indian Wells Masters after their respective wins in the men’s singles event here on Monday.
Top seed Djokovic overcame a shaky start to trounce local boy Bjorn Fratangelo 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the second round contest that lasted one hour and 46 minutes.
Meanwhile, 14-time Grand Slam champion Nadal was also made to work hard for his 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win over Gilles Muller of Luxembourg in the second round.
