MOGA- Dal Khalsa to hold a protest rally on India’s Independence Day at Moga against the atrocities, political subjugation and denial of rights to Sikhs in the last seven decades.
The organization gave the call for observing Aug 15 as black day and boycott of government celebrations. A day earlier, the Dal Khalsa will hold a conference on 13 August in Chandigarh to celebrate 40 years of its committed journey for the right to self determination.
The organization cited denial of right to self determination, failure of Punjab govt to prosecute former DGP SS Saini and other top cops in Bebhal Kalan firing, misuse of archaic sedition laws, re-trail of two Sikh hijackers in 37 years old case and continued detention of Sikh political prisoners who had completed their life term as the main reasons to hold the protest.
Local politico-religious groups included SAD ( Amritsar) ave extended their support to Dal Khalsa programme and their members will join the protest.
Sukhraj Singh son of Bhai Krishan Bhagwan Singh who fell to the police bullets at a Behbal Kalan was also present st press conference.
Addressing the press conference, party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said “It has been 71 long years since India got freedom, but nothing has changed. The litany of grouses, grievances and grudges of India against the Sikh people grow with every passing year, in fact with every passing day. The original promises and commitments are long forgotten by the Indian leadership.”
He said the international community has been responding only in situations of armed struggle but maintaining a deafening silence about state violence.
Explaining their rationale behind protest against Indian National day, he said “India is unabashedly ignoring the democratic and peaceful struggle of the Sikhs and Kashmiris and turned a blind eye to the misery, pain and violation of their human rights.
We continue to raise the issue of referendum under United Nations despite a conspiracy of silence in the Indian sub-continent, said party spokesperson. Whatever may the present posture of the Sikhs and that of their political leadership in Punjab, the undercurrent of dissatisfaction and dismay at the treatment of the Sikhs in India is evident.
Party general secretary Paramjit Singh Tanda, vice president Baba Hardeep Singh Mehraj, Amrik Singh Issru, Surjit Singh Khalistani, Jasbir Singh Khandur and district president Jagjit Singh Khosa and SYP head Paramjit Singh Mand and Vice President Sukhraj Singh were also present during press meet.
