Situation remains tense in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as strike enters 4th day
Dadri: A report issued by the laboratory of Uttar Pradesh University claiming that the meat found in Akhlaq’s house was beef, has re-ignited tension in the village of Bisara and the issue once again seems to be simmering.
The residents of the Bisara village in Dadri met the Gautam Budh Nagar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to press their demand for filing an FIR against Akhlaq’s family and their arrest for alleged cow slaughter. The SSP made it clear that no case would be filed until definite proof emerged that the meat found in Akhlaq’s house was actually beef.
The residents of the village have now threatened to hold a ‘mahapanchayat’ in their village. In anticipation of trouble brewing, Section 144 has been imposed in the village.
Adding fuel to fire was Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sanjeev Balyan who was recently quoted as saying that Akhlaq alone could not have eaten the full cow; it must have gone to at least 20 families and so those families should also be tracked down.
Such statements being made at this time clearly indicates the strategy of the politicians gearing up for 2017 Uttar Pradesh elections.
