Cops recover Rs 4 lakh extortion money Punjabi singer Parmish Verma paid to gangster Dilpreet Baba

Chandigarh, The Mohali police have recovered Rs 4 lakh allegedly paid as extortion money to gangster Dilpreet Singh Dhahan, alias Baba, by Punjabi singer Parmish Verma.

Dilpreet’s aide Gaurav Patiala, alias Lucky, a resident of Khuda Lahora, had allegedly collected the protection money in Delhi to dodge financial watchdogs. Police was not aware of the fact that Parmish paid the extortion money to the gangster even after he was provided security.

While police have not divulged more details, sources said more recoveries are anticipated in the case. Last week, the Mohali police had recovered a .32 bore revolver that Dilpreet used to flaunt on his social media page. Dilpreet was arrested following a shootout in Sector 43, Chandigarh, on July 9.

Besides other cases registered against him in the region, he is accused of attacking Parmish earlier this year.

Parmish and his friend Kulwant Singh Chahal were shot at in Sector 74, Mohali when they were returning from an event in Chandigarh around midnight on April 14.

Later, Dilpreet had claimed responsibility on Facebook. He was reportedly accompanied by Lucky and another aide, Budha.

According to sources in Mohali police, Dilpreet had received Rs 10 lakh from Parmish, of which he had spent Rs 6 lakh. The remaining amount has been recovered.

Chandigarh police have earlier claimed that Parmish had in fact paid Rs 20 lakh to the gangster. The second instalment of Rs 10 lakh was kept by Lucky, Chandigarh cops who quizzed Dilpreet during his remand had claimed.
