Ludhiana/ Jagraon, The Leader of the Opposition and the Congress Legislature Party leader Mr Charanjit Singh Channi today assured one job per family after the party forms government in the state in February 2017 elections. The congress party will have separate department to ensure that this promise is accomplished in the first year of the rule.

Mr Channi is presently undertaking Jawani Sambhal Yatra on the issues of drugs, unemployment and goonda raj unleashed by Parkash Singh Badal government. The week-long yatra would culminate at Talwandi Sabo on October 3. On the third day today senior congress leader Sh. Kishori Lal flagged off the yatra from Ludhiana which was given massive reception at Dakha and finally finishing the day at Jagraon. In three days the yatra has travelled more than 150 Km’s starting from Sri Chamkaur Sahib, Khamanoo, Samrala, Ludhiana, Dakha and Jagraon.

Slamming the Badal government for its dismal record on the issue of giving unemployment allowance despite making tall promises, Channi said as per the official figures, only 1913 unemployed were given allowance since 2012 till now. He said party’s RTI cell activist Dr Jasdeepak Singh had procured the information under the RTI Act. Referring to the payment of unemployment allowance in Punjab, Channi said the number of beneficiaries were astonishing in the state that the government figures say only 1913 were paid allowance. Amritsar topped the charts with just 728 beneficiaries getting this unemployed allowance since 2012, Bhatinda had only 61 while Ludhiana had 36 beneficiaries. Fazilka had just one while fazilka and Moga had two beneficiaries since 2012. To more surprise no beneficiary was there in Mohali, Nawanshahr, Ropar and Mukatsar since 2012. This despite the fact Punjab tops the list of unemployed youth in the whole country.

Channi also presented the figures of the AAP government in Delhi headed by Mr Arvind Kejriwal. He said the Kejriwal government had provided employment only to 1417 persons after coming to power while the number of unemployed with the employment exchanges was 13, 49, 794. He asserted the party was misleading the youth in Punjab by offering lakhs of jobs while its performance in Delhi on this crucial front was virtually nil. He called upon the people in the state to assess the promises made by AAP in Punjab in the context of the performance of the Kejriwal government in Delhi.

Providing details of Delhi, he said the total number of placements made by directorate of employment from February 2015 till date was 117 through online employment portal and 1300 through employment summits. The total number of unemployed registered with the employment directorate till date was 13, 49, 794.
