CHANDIGARH, September 1: The Congress party will hold the Akali-BJP government in dock in the coming Vidhan Sabha session for all its failures and the sins of omission and commission. The party also called all its MLAs to ensure their presence all through the session.

A meeting of the Congress Legislature Party was held here today. It was presided over by the CLP leader Charanjit Singh Channi and attended among others by the PCC president Capt Amarinder Singh, AICC Secretary in charge Harish Chaudhry, Sunil Jakhar, Laal Singh, Ashwani Sekhri, Kuljit Nagra, Rana Gurjeet and others.

The leaders were of the unanimous opinion that although it was a brief session, the party legislators will have to make best use of it. They pointed out, the Akali-BJP government had failed on all fronts and it was the right time to expose them in the Vidhan Sabha.

The major issues listed included the farmers’ suicides, the drug scourge, denial of blue card to the BPL families affiliated to the Congress and the law and order. The leaders also deliberated upon the loot resorted to by the Akali-BJP government of the state’s resources like the sand.

Later talking to reporters, Capt Amarinder and Mr Channi disclosed that the Akalis will find it difficult to answer and explain their sins of omissions and commissions during the last five years.

Capt Amarinder said, the entire legislature party will be present in the Vidhan Sabha come what may to take on the government. He said, his party will not allow the alliance government to use its brute numbers to browbeat the opposition.

Replying to another question about the recent developments in the state, the PCC president said, the Congress party was already firmly in the saddle and it did not need to depend on the falling fortunes of other parties.

“I have always believed and maintained that the AAP is a myth and it has already started to explode”, he said, while replying to a question about the implosion and corruption charges being leveled by the AAP leaders against the senior leadership from Delhi.

He reiterated the Congress did not consider anyone of the two as its competitors as the party was far ahead. He pointed out, the anti-incumbency sentiment against the Akali-BJP government was so strong that people were not even prepared to hear their names. He said, by the time elections will be held, the AAP will be scattered into many fragments.

CLP leader Channi said, another meeting of the CLP will be held before the start of the session where the final strategy will be discussed and decided. He thanked all the MLAs for the support and cooperation they have been extending to him in running the CLP.

Among others present on the occasion, besides Mr Channi, included Capt Amarinder, Harish Chaudhry, Sunil Jakhar, Laal Singh, Ashwani Sekhri, Kuljeet Nagra, Sukhjinder Randhawa, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Navtej Cheema, Brahm Mohindra, Rana Gurjeet Singh, Dr Raj Kumar Verka, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, Kewal Dhillon, Hardayal Kambhoj, Rakesh Pandey, Balbir Sidhu, Amrik Dhillon, Ms Charanjit Kaur Bajwa, Ms Aruna Chaudhary, Bibi Harchand Kaur, Mohammad Sadiq, Tarlochan Sund, Joginder Singh Panjgrain, Ajaib Singh Bhatti, Jagmohan Singh Kang, Raja Warring, Parminder Singh Pinky, Gurkirat Singh Kotli, and Gurcharan Singh Boparai.
