Congress ridicules AAP charge of understanding with Akalis

Amarinder-SinghCHANDIGARH, January 27: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today ridiculed the Aam Aadmi Party charge that the party had an understanding with the Akalis by boycotting the Khadoor Sahab bye-election.
“It is a classic case of pot calling the kettle black”, Capt Amarinder remarked while pointing out AAP had run away long back without any reason while the Congress party boycotted the bye- election as a matter of principle.
“It is strange and ridiculous that the AAP leaders are accusing us of running away and having an understanding with the Akalis when the AAP was not itself contesting the bye-elections”, he said.
The PCC president asserted that while the Congress had taken a principled stand to boycott the bye-election as the issue of desecration of the holy Guru Granth Sahab against which the party MLA Ramanjit Singh Sikki had resigned, still remains unresolved, the AAP had actually run away without any reason.
“The Congress party has spelt out the reason for its boycott, now you tell us why you didn’t contest”, Capt Amarinder asked the AAP leaders, adding it was a classic case of pot calling kettle black.
