Tarn Taran, Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today said the party did not need any alliance in Punjab as it was already in a strong position to wrest power from the SAD-BJPalliance on its own. His statement comes within days of PPCC chief Partap Bajwa hinting at the possibility of floating a grand alliance in the state on the lines of Bihar to take on the SAD-BJP.
Addressing a rally here, Amarinder said the response his rallies were getting across the state hinted that the Congress was storming to power in Punjab with a landslide mandate.
On pre-poll or post-poll tie-ups with other parties, the senior Congress leader said the situation here was entirely different from what it was in Bihar. When told that some senior party leaders were favouring a similar alliance in Punjab, he said everybody was entitled to give his or her opinion but the ground situation of the party did not favour any such alliance.
