CM GIVES NOD FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF GURU RAVIDASS MEMORIAL AT VILLAGE KHURALGARH

CHANDIGARH, SEPTEMBER 15: All decks have been cleared for the construction of Guru Ravidass Memorial at village Khuralgarh, district Hoshiarpur as the Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today gave its final approval to the design and site plan prepared for the monument of revered saint, Guru Ravidass ji. Presiding over a high level meeting to review the progress of this prestigious project the Chief Minister directed the Tourism Department to immediately float the tenders to start construction work by November 2015 so that the monument must be dedicated to mankind positively by November 2016.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the chief minister office said that Mr. Badal also asked the Tourism Department to constitute a society on the lines of the Jang-e-Azadi Foundation, which would further take the administrative decisions regarding the upkeep and maintenance of the memorial and directed the Tourism Minister to be the chairman of this society and to induct members from the Executive Committee into this newly set up Society. The Chief Minister directed all the executing agencies to gear up their activities so that this magnificent Guru Ravidass Memorial could be instrumental in propagating the philosophy and teachings of this great saint of the Bhakti Movement.

During the meeting elaborate presentation was given to the Chief Minister depicting the architectural plan, topography and landscaping of the Guru Ravidass Memorial. Mr. Badal was appraised that once completed this memorial would have a spacious congregation hall having the capacity to accommodate ten thousand pilgrims, an state-of-the art auditorium equipped with all the modern audio-visual aids to showcase the life works of Guru Ravidass Ji. The auditorium would accommodate nearly 500 pilgrims during any function or event. It was informed that the Hallmark of this world class memorial would be a tall erected structure ‘Minar e Begampura’ which would be of 151 feet high.

The Chief Minister said that as the Guru Ravidass Memorial would be world class monument thus approach roads from three sides must also be strengthened to enable hassle free access of the visitors. He directed the official of PWD and Mandi Board to immediately conduct a feasibility study of all the approach and link roads leading to this monument and put up case for the strengthening and widening of these roads. He assured that paucity of funds would not be allowed to hamper the pace of the project in any way and asked the Tourism Minister to regularly monitor the progress of this sacred project to ensure its timely completion.

Prominent amongst other who were present in the meeting included Tourism Minister Mr. Sohan Singh Thandal, MLA and Ex Minister Mr. Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Som Parkash, Chairman Punjab State Commission for Backward Classes Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. SK Sandhu, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. DP Reddy, Principal Secretary Tourism Mrs. Anjali Bhawra and Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. KJS Cheema.
