Channi challenges Badal to convene special Assembly session on SYL Canal

pk-2Pathankot/Gurdaspur, July 30: The Punjab Congress Legislature Party chief Mr Charanjit Singh Channi today challenged the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal to convene special session of the Assembly and substantiate his claim of having amended Section 5 of the Punjab Termination Agreements Act, 2004. He also questioned his denial regarding the first notifications issued by his government in 1978 to acquire land for the Satluj-Yamuna Link Canal. Channi was addressing the gathering at workers meeting in Pathankot today organized by halka incharge Sh. Raman Bhalla.

“Mr Badal is suffering from Selective amnesia or is a habitual liar who has been misleading the people over the years on the sensitive issue of the SYL Canal. It was the Badal government that issued the first notification for the acquisition of land for this canal. It was the Akali Dal that made the commitment as part of the Punjab accord to complete the construction of this canal. Can Mr Badal also deny the fact that he signed the pledge ratifying this accord to get Assembly ticket for 1985 election? This canal was constructed mainly by the Akali Dal government”, he asserted.

He said his latest white lie was his claim of having amended Section 5 of the 2004 Act and asked whether it was done through ordinance. He called upon the Chief Minister to substantiate his claim about this amendment by producing the relevant record or apologize to the people of Punjab.

This has been now established from the inputs given by the USA to India NIA that Pathankot Attack was mastermind of Pakistan and the repeated alerts by the central government agencies were ignored by the Punjab police that’s why the Pathankot Happened. The role of SP Salwinder Singh should be reinvestigated. Why he was let off after preliminary investigation by the central agency. Today law and order situation in the state is deteriorating. broad day light murders, the latest case being that of a woman who was gunned down near Alamgir in the morning as she was an accused in a case of desecration of Guru Granth Sahib. He said Punjab having turned into gangland under political patronage was a separate issue. He expressed the apprehension that the ruling Akali Dal might use these gangs during the Assembly elections to create fear psychosis.

Channi also lashed out against the Delhi Chief Minister and the Aam Aadmi Party convener Mr Arvind Kejriwal for taking the the political discourse to new low. He expressed surprise that here was a party that Mr Kejriewal presented to the people as a model of alternative politics. However, what to talk of the alternative model, its functioning indicated the lowest depths to which its leadership could go. He said the people were against the Akali Dal-BJP combine but the AAP was misreading the situation as support to it.

The common man has now realaized what blunder they have dine after electing the Modi. The price of lentils, potatoes and tomatoes cannot be controlled by this Modi Government. The fuel prices are touching skies. This government is anti people and people will throw them out in the coming parliament elections. Punjab and Uttar Pradesh will show the way by giving absolute majority to the congress in the coming elections.
