CBSE’s Class 10, 12 board exams to begin on March 9

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has scheduled its board examinations for Class 10 and 12 from March 9, a day after voting ends for upcoming assembly elections in five states.

Class 10 examinations, in which 16,67,573 students are expected to appear, will end on April 10, but Class 12 examinations will go on till April 29, a notification by the board said.

“Result will be declared on time as the board has adopted several IT initiatives that will aid in faster result processing,” it said.
Of the 16,67,573 students that will take Class 12 exams this year, 8,84,710 candidates have opted for board-based examination. The rest will appear for school-based exams.
A total of 10,98,420 students will take the Class 12 examination.
Elections in five states — Punjab, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Manipur — begin on February 4, with Punjab and Goa going first. The elections have delayed Class 12 examinations by a week.
Voting for the last phase of elections in Manipur and Uttar Pradesh is scheduled on March 8.
