Chandigarh, The Council of Ministers will meet on June 7 to decide on the schedule to start the upcoming Budget session.
A senior government functionary said though discussions had been held on the beginning of the session from June 15, a formal decision was expected to taken in the Cabinet meeting.
It is expected that the Cabinet would be briefed about the implementation of the key poll promises of the Congress. “Since some of the major announcements like providing free smart phones to youths and debt relief for marginal farmers will have financial implications, discussions regarding these announcements are expected during the Cabinet meeting,” said the official.
Sources said in wake of controversy over the issue front men of Power and Irrigation Minister Rana Gurjit bidding for sand mines, the Congress government was keen on making populist announcements to deflect attention from the matter.
An expert committee headed by Dr T Haque that is dealing with farm loan waiver is already in the process to finalising its report.
The CM, while speaking at the launch of a private channel today, hinted at several decisions to implement some of the key electoral financial promises in the state Budget.
