Bikram Majithia urges people to choose policies of development over disruption

IMG-20150408-WA0086Dhuri,  Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Vice President and Revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia today urged the people to choose the policies of development over disruption, saying a vote for the SAD was a vote for a better and more progressive Dhuri.

Addressing a series of public meetings at village Ghanour Khurd, Dugni, Bammal, Maana & Dhuri City, Mr Majithia said chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had always followed a positive agenda which was aimed at bettering the lot of the poor, farmers and backward classes. “This policy has ensured free power for farmers, subsidised electricity for Dalits and a number of social welfare schemes including the “attaa – daal” scheme, shagun scheme and even bicycles for senior girl students among other benefits”.

Speaking about Dhuri, the Revenue minister said the constituency had missed the development bus earlier because it’s elected representatives, who were always from the opposition, had failed to deliver. “Now the constituency has got a chance to fast track development with the tempo having been set by S Parkash Singh Badal who had himself taken on the mantle of being their representative now”.

Mr Majithia while speaking about the Congress campaign, said the party had failed to come up with any issue concerned with the people of Dhuri. He said instead the party was involved in factional fights with rival groups using the election campaign to showcase their strength in the party rather than reaching out to the people.

The SAD vice president said due to this the people were now virtually shunning the Congress. “The situation has come to such a stage that Pradesh Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa is ploughing a lonely furrow with the entire rank and file of the party having deserted him”. He said this however was expected. ” Mr. Bajwa has been shorn of credibility due to his back stabbing ways. Things have reached such a stage that he has even lost the confidence of his wife Charanjit Kaur who ensured his defeat from the assembly constituency represented by her in the recent parliamentary elections”.

Mr. Majithia was surrounded by youth supporters who converged in large numbers at all his public meetings. Many later lined up to have their photographs clicked with him. He on his part took this opportunity to interact with them and discussed how the State could open more skill development courses to increase employability in the region.

Meanwhile the goodwill generated by SAD candidate Gobind Singh Longowal was also visible at all the public meetings. People from various walks of life thanked the SAD for renominating a candidate who was known for his simple lifestyle and dedication to the people and their causes.
