Sangrur – The Punjab Chief Minster Mr Parkash Singh Badal said today accused the AAP’s Punjab unit of cowardice against their High Command despite the latter’s brazen and broad daylight betrayal of Punjab’s interest on the river waters issue. The Chief Minister said that the programme of Punjab unit of AAP to gherao his residence in Chandigarh is a mere cheap to distract people’s attention from their own cowardice against the anti-Punjab stand of their High Command led by the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.” If AAP leaders in Punjab are sincere and if they have moral courage, they should sit in dharna against Arvind Kejriwal to persuade him to stop betraying Punjab.”
The Chief Minister said that AAP was treading the beaten path of treachery against Punjab which was followed by the Congress party all these years. “Like the Punjab Congress leaders, the AAP leaders in Punjab are openly defending the anti-Punjab stand on SYL taken by their party’s High Command in the Supreme Court. The Delhi Government , headed by Arvind Kejriwal, has stated in writing in the Supreme Court that they do not support the stand of Punjab on river waters issue. “Why Are AApleaers in Punjab silent on this betrayal of their beloved state? Kejriwal’s stand is in sharp contradiction to the claim made by Mr Kejriwal during his Punjab visit that Punjab’s waters belonged to Punjab only. The faceless AAP leadership in Punjab now lacks courage to oppose Kejriwal on its betrayal of Punjab, ” said Mr Badal who was in Dirba today for a Sangat darshan programme there.
In a statement here, the Chief Minister reiterated that he would welcome everyone to his residence as long as the reason for the visit was to defend the interests of Punjab. But ,said the Chief Minister, the motive behind the undemocratic “gherao programme of the AAP leaders was merely to gain cheap publicity and to deflect people’s attention from the failure of their own party.
The Chief Minister said the river waters issue was the biggest crisis facing the people of Punjab especially our farmers. “But Arvind Kejriwal seems to have told his Punjab cadre to raise a hue and cry over other issues in order to cover up his treacherous conduct on the issue. ” said Mr Badal, addinghe Kejriwal’s flip flop on SYL was worse even than the Cngress betrayal at Kapuri in 1980s. The AAP leaders in Punjab should march to Kejriwal’s residence in Delhi to ask him to stop betraying Punjab on SYL in Supreme Court.
The CM said that the AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal had mastered the art of shedding crocodile tears for the poor farmers. But thereality of his anti-farmer stand was clear when he refused even to stop hisspeech during a party rally in Delhi when a farmer, Gajendra singh committed suicide by hanging himself from ree right in front of the eyes of Kejriwal. He did not even step down from stage to offer help to the tragic farmer.
Mr Badal asked the AAPleaders to ask the Delhi government to to implement even one fourth of the welfare schemes which SAD-BJP govt has implemented for the welfare of farmers in Punjab, like free power to the every farmer, Rs 50,000 interest free loan per crop, insurance of Rs five lakh to every farmer against accidental death, , Rs 50,000 as medical care and pension cum provident scheme. Punjab is the only state to have set up a Kisan Vikas Chamber on the lines of the FICCI and CII. What has AAP government in Delhi done for their farmers even though the number of farmers in Delhi is not even a fraction of the farmers in Punjab . ”
The Chief Minister reiterated that he would keep his doors open for everyone to discuss the issues facing the state and find solutions to these in a peaceful, democratic manner. But the AAP did not want to find solutions. They merely wanted stunts like gherao which is “undemocratic and illegal.”
