Badal reviews arrangements for inaugration of war heroes memorial at Amritsar on Oct 23

Chandigarh, October 4: Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today reviewed the preparedness for the inauguration of Punjab State War Heroes Memorial & Museum (PSWHMM) at Amritsar to be dedicated to the nation on October 23, 2016.

Presiding over a meeting to monitor the arrangements for organizing a mega event here at his official residence, Mr. Badal was apprised that a galaxy of top military officers including Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh and number of Ex Defence Services Chiefs have already confirmed their presence over the function. Apart from these, three foreign guests who had served in the regiments connected with Punjab are attending in different capacities viz. Mr. High Mackay, UK co-trustee in the Sikh Pioneer and Sikh LI Regimental Association, Colonel Tom Conway, who served in Guides Cavalry before and during World War-II and Mr. Devinder Dhillon of the Chhatri Memorial Group, Brighton (UK). It was also informed in the meeting that as many as 20,000 Ex-servicemen/War widows were expected to attend the function. Students from Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Academy and Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Academy would also participate in the inaugural ceremony of the War Memorial & Museum.

The Chief Minister said that this world class state-of-the-art project costing Rs. 130 crore would encompass the entire military history kaleidoscope spanning 2000 years of history of greater Punjab. Mr. Badal said that the memorial was a befitting tribute to the valour and sacrifices made by soldiers and officers of the Armed forces in the service of the nation.
