BADAL GIVES NOD TO FILL BACKLOG OF POSTS RESERVED FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED CANDIDATES

Chandigarh, April 1- Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today gave nod to complete the process of filling backlog of 1084 posts within a month in various departments of the state government reserved for visually impaired candidates.

A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister during meeting with a delegation of National Federation of Blind, who called on him under the leadership of its state President Mr. Vivek Monga today at Punjab Bhawan.

The Chief Minister asked Principal Secretary Social Security to coordinate with every department and ensure that this process was completed at the earliest. Mr. Badal was apprised by Secretary Welfare that they had already called the applications in this regard by issuing advertisements, which have been sent to the concerned departments. He said that the recruitment for Class ‘A’ posts would be done by the Punjab Public Service Commission whereas for all the other categories the recruitment would be completed within a month.

Acceding to another demand of the delegation, the Chief Minister asked the Principal Secretary Education to put the 162 posts of JBT teachers back in the category of Hobby teachers, so that visually impaired candidates could be benefitted from it. He also asked the department to conduct the recruitment on these posts within three months. Mr. Badal also asked the Secretary to revive 12 posts of teachers in Government School for Blind at Jamalpur (Ludhiana) so that visually impaired candidates could get jobs on one hand and to provide quality education to the students on other.

Prominent amongst others present in the meeting included Cabinet Minister Jathedar Tota Singh, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mrs. Farzaana Aalam, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. SK Sandhu, Principal Secretary School Education Mr. G Vajralingam and Principal Secretary Social Security Mr. Anurag Aggarwal.

The members of delegation included General Secretary of organization Mr. Balwinder Singh, Chief Spokesman Mr. Gurpreet Singh Chahal and Mr. Davinder Singh.
