Chandigarh, September 16- There could be several interpretations to their breakfast meeting but then if Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar start regular interaction, it would resolve many a problems that confront the two states which were one till 1966. The relations between the two states have sometimes been at their worst. Now is the time to pave the way for smooth sailing.
The occasion was breakfast hosted by Khattar for Badal at his residence today morning. Badal reached Haryana CMs residence at 9.30 AM.
The two states have some unresolved irritants which are more of a notional in kind but have acquired political overtones over the years. A bold and pragmatic approach is called for to get over the past.
It may be mentioned that during the rally in Chandigarh addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on September 11, Khattar had obliquely talked of negotiated settlement of outstanding issues between the two states. Badal had not reacted at that time.
