Apple to discontinue these Macbook and iPad models in 2024 | Details Inside

In a move to simplify its product offerings and enhance sales, Apple is reportedly set to bid farewell to the M1 MacBook Air and the 9th generation iPad.

The tech giant plans a comprehensive revamp of its MacBook Air and iPad lineup in 2024, introducing the M3 MacBook Air and a new series of iPads.

A new report by Blooomberg’s Mark Gurman says that Apple’s forthcoming strategy involves streamlining its diverse iPad lineup, culminating in the discontinuation of the widely acclaimed M1 MacBook Air and the 9th generation iPad. This move aims to reduce consumer confusion and elevate the overall user experience.

The spotlight of Apple’s overhaul will be the introduction of the M3 MacBook Air and a redesigned series of iPads. These new offerings are poised to replace their predecessors, promising enhanced features and improved performance.

Beyond the M3 MacBook Air, Apple is also set to diversify its iPad lineup with the introduction of a standard iPad Air and a better iPad Pro. Notably, the 11th-generation iPad will make its debut, featuring the classic home button.

Presently, Apple boasts five primary iPad models: the Pro, Air, and Mini, alongside the ninth and 10th generations of the regular iPad. The M1 MacBook Air, celebrated for its use of the Apple Silicon chip, has maintained its status as the top budget-friendly MacBook, outshining its successor, the M2 model.

The M1 MacBook Air’s discontinuation marks the end of an era, as it was Apple’s first-ever use of the Apple Silicon chip. Despite the subsequent release of the M2 models, the M1 MacBook Air has remained a favourite among budget-conscious users due to its impressive performance.

Equipped with the A13 Bionic chip, the 9th generation iPad catered to casual users and young children. Its discontinuation aligns with Apple’s strategy to gradually phase out older Pencils, streamlining the product line and emphasising more advanced offerings.

The impending refresh of Apple’s MacBook Air and iPad lineup will present users an opportunity to consider upgrading their devices. As Apple continues to evolve its product ecosystem, consumers can anticipate a more refined and cohesive lineup in the coming year
