Amarinder chides MS Gill over ingratitude, frustration for not getting RS re-nomination

Capt-Amrinder-singhCHANDIGARH, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today lashed out at former union minister and two time Rajya Sabha MP Manohar Singh Gill for criticising the party decision to appoint Mr Kamal Nath as the general secretary in charge of Punjab.

“It only betrays the ingratitude and frustration of a man just because the party did not re-nominate him to the Rajya Sabha for the third time after giving him two terms and also making him the cabinet minister in the centre, without having any contribution towards the party”, Capt Amarinder said, while asking if he (Gill) really believed that Kamal Nath was guilty of 1984 riots why did he keep quiet all these years.

The PCC president pointed out, Gill remained RS member for 12 years and also served as a minister in the UPA government headed by Dr Manmohan Singh, where Kamal Nath was his cabinet colleague, but never did he feel uncomfortable in his company.

“And now this gentleman has woken up to the knowledge of his ex-cabinet colleague’s involvement in the riots that took place 32 years ago”, he chided Gill, while taunting him, “or he knew it all these years but did not want to lose his job as the RS member/minister so preferred to keep quiet”.

“Does it mean that had the party re-nominated you to the RS for the third time, Kamal Nath would still be innocent in your eyes and you would have even defended him against the Akalis and the Aam Aadmi Party?” he asked Gill.

Capt Amarinder pointed out, in 1984 Gill was posted in Punjab. “How do you know what happened there while sitting in Punjab?” he asked, adding, “I was very much there betweenNovember 1 to 4 and I talked to all the victims everywhere and nobody leveled any charge against Kamal Nath”.
