CHANDIGARH, November 25: Punjab Congress general secretary Pawan Dewan today said that the mass exodus of leaders from the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal had just begun and by the time the ‘election code of conduct’ is imposed in the state, the Akali Dal will be reduced to ‘Khaali Dal’.

Reacting to the resignation of a number of leaders from Akali Dal and their joining the Congress, Dewan pointed out, four of the sitting MLAs had already joined the Congress or were likely to join the party. Besides, he added, a senior BJP leader and sitting MLA Dr Navjot Kaur was also joining the Congress.

The PCC general secretary said, this also indicated that the Congress party was all set to form the government as leaders from other parties also were seeing a hope in the leadership of Capt Amarinder Singh, who is set to become the Chief Minister of the state.

He also took a dig at the Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal for running away from Punjab while cutting short his tour programme midway.

Dewan pointed out, Kejriwal was supposed to stay in Punjab till November 30and was scheduled to address 21 rallies in ten days. However, he added, the Delhi Chief Minister after failing to get the response from people made good his exit much sooner.
