CHHAJLI (SUNAM) 25th Feb: With the begining of the five day visit of Kejriwal to Punjab, new hopes of shining Punjab flattered in the eyes of the people all around. Delhi CM began the journey visiting Sunam (village of Sangror) meeting the farmers and listening to their grievances. Terming the meagre compensation paid by the state government to farmers for their damaged crop as “cruel joke”, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today promised adequate compensation to farmers, if Aam Admi Party (AAP) comes into power.

“We have done it in Delhi, where compensation of Rs 50,000 per hectare was given for farmers of 307 villages for their damaged government, which was never done by any previous government”, moreover Punjab being the nerve centre of agriculture needs more attention and new agricultural schemes. Kejriwal said while addressing the gathering.

Earlier Kejriwal met the four widows of farmers, who recently committed suicides due to poor plight and heavy debt. “I think that the compensation of Rs three lakh announced by the state government for families of farmers who committed suicide was also embezzled by the corruption officials and politicians, as on ground no such compensation was given to any family”, Kejriwal said.

Although, Kejriwal’s visit to the village, had no schedule of holding a meeting in the village, but people’s expectations and needs forced him to listen their grievances and within no time, the small gathering turned into a ‘big rally’.
