Action Scenes are New to me and Not Easy to Shoot, Says Varun

Varun Dhawan has an unbroken string of successes to his credit so far. He continues his penchant for something new with his next release Dishoom in which he attempts action for the first time.

Dishoom is your first action thriller. Did you easily take to shooting action sequences?

It was not easy to shoot action as I am new to all this. Dishoom has been very challenging as there is a lot of action in the film. Moreover, through the action sequences in Dishoom we are trying to push the boundaries and do something new.

It’s also the first time you are working alongside John Abraham.

Whenever you are doing action, you are taking a risk. You need someone to back you. Whenever John was around, he used to check the safety before I did the scene. John would do every stunt first; and then I would. Even if he was not supposed to do the stunt, he would still do it for me. I had a support system. John and I have done dare-devil stunts.Any injuries?

Both John and I hurt our eyes while we were shooting for an underwater sequence. It was on the day of the India versus West Indies cricket match. All of us were excited to see the match, but we had hurt our eyes.

Another first for you is being directed by your brother Rohit (Desi Boyz) Dhawan. What was that like?

Rohit is a very talented director. I am glad I got the opportunity to work with him.

Did the film also demand a greater level of fitness from you?

With John and Jacqueline on board, you are a fitness freak; you end up working out and going to the gym.

Your film Shuddhi with Karan Johar seems to have been put on hold while you do another film Badrinath Ki Dulhania with him.

As far as Shuddhi is concerned, I think Karan Joharji has already given the answer. Yes, I will be doing another film with Dharma, and the announcement about it will be made soon.
