AAP trying to destabilise Punjab on behest of anti national elements: Majithia

Bikram-Singh-MajithiaJalandhar, August 4: Punjab Revenue and Public Relations Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majthia today alleged that AAP was trying to destabilise the peace in the border state on behest of foreign forces but Punjabis would never allow such anti national elements to disturb the communal harmony. Mr. Majithia was here at DAVIET to distribute free cycles to girl students.

Mr. Majithia said that said that AAP leaders were working in tandem with anti national and anti Punjab forces. He demanded an enquiry from the national agencies to investigate the links of AAP leaders with anti national foreign forces and source of its funding.

Replying to a question about the defamation case against Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, Mr. Majithia said that AAP leaders have adopted the ‘hit & run’ policy in Punjab by leveling baseless allegations on political opponents but the reality was that they were now running away from facing the trial in the court. Daring Kejriwal to opt for day to day haring in the case, Mr. Majithia said that “the people of Punjab have given the befitted reply to AAP on last hearing in Amritsar”. “if AAP leaders have the courage to stand by their words than why they are running from daily hearing?”, he added.

Terming SAD-BJP Government as the only votary of social welfare as the Government was spending more than Rs. 1700 crore annually on Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme, Od age pensions, Atta Dal, Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojna and Tirath Darshan Yatra scheme.

Recalling his school days, Mr. Majithia said that today was the historic day as it was not merely a cycle distribution function rather it wast a step towards women empowerment as by educating a girl, we can educate the whole family.

Underlining the need for moral education from the very beginning, Mr. Majithia said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Punjab Government has launched first of its own kind flagship programs, Mai Bhagho Vidya scheme , in the year 2011-12 with an aim to promote welfare of the Girl child and to check drop-outs in school. The scheme envisages providing free bicycles to Girls studying in IX-XII in Government schools.

Till date the SAD BJP Government has already disbursed 4,07,703 cycles to girls students with Rs. 135 crore. Out of which 1,11,449 cycles (year 2011-12) with the cost of Rs. 30 crore , 1,52,330 cycles (Year 2013-14) with Rs. 41.75 crore and 1,44,324 cycles(Year 2015-16) with Rs. 46 crore were distributed. Similarly, during current financial year 2016-17 our government has decided to distribute 75000 cycles to Plus 1 students studying in various government schools.

It may be mentioned here that in Jalandhar district till now 34,645 cycles were distributed with the cost of Rs. 9 crore
