AAP candidates are mainly from ‘B’ teams of Congress and Akali Dal: Channi

Chandigarh, October 8: The Punjab Congress Legislature Party leader Mr Charanjit Singh Channi today blasted the second list of 29 candidates released by the Aam Aadmi Party yesterday as comprising people who were earlier part of the ‘B’ team of either the Congress or the Akali Dal and the money bags.

“Sukhpal Singh Khaira fielded from Bholath is former Congress MLA who lost in the last election and was eyeing fresh space. Before joining the Congress, he had tried ticket from the Akali Dal and this was revealed by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in the Assembly. Jagtar Singh Rajla is from traditional Akali family who had a brief adventure with the Congress before landing in AAP. Similar is the case with Guirpreet Singh Bhatti, Aman Arora, Anu Randhawa and Mohan Singh Phallianwala. Both Joginder Singh Chhina and Gurpartap singh Khushalpur were with the Akali Dal till recently”, he pointed out.

He asserted he had not mentioned all such candidates who had defected to AAP from either the Congress, Akali Dal or the Bahujan Samaj Party who were without any commitment to any party and playing politics of opportunism to the hilt. There are others who in their personal capacity have been hobnobbing with the Akali Dal or the Congress leaders at one time or the other.

“The AAP candidates are mainly a gang of opportunists whose only aim is to grab power. These people are rootless with total disconnect with the masses”, he said.

He referred to Paramjit Sachdeva as the money bag who had also promised to fund some other constituencies.

Channi also said that the AAP has no principles as they have already backtracked from their commitment not to field corrupt candidates, appoint Chief Parliamentary secretaries, taking Z plus Security for the Chief Minister, Official bunglaw of the Chief Minister and many other promises which they promised the people of Delhi. Now they are doing the same with Punjab. Every another day their own party leaders are quitting them and then accusing them in one or other scandals.

He said AAP was a party that had failed to attract fresh talent and had to bank upon second rung leaders from the other parties who had been rejected by the people in the elections.

Mr Channi attacked AAP the party borne out of politics of opportunism and the one having no space for any diverse views. It was precisely for this reason that all the founder members of this party in Punjab had either left it or were pushed out, he added.

He said going by the selection of its candidates, AAP posed no challenge to the Congress.
