8 killed, 15 injured as factory wall collapses at Baddi town of Himachal

As many as eight people, including children, were killed and 15 others injured when the wall of a closed industrial unit caved in and fell on jhuggis constructed on the other side of the wall at Swarajmajra village of Baddi industrial area on Tuesday night following heavy rain and storm.
The Nalagarh SDM, SP and DSP visited the spot.
The wall was about 60-ft tall. The industrial unit was mortgaged with a bank and hence closed for past some time.

The deceased were members of three families who have been identified as Asarfi, 35; his two children Sailesh and Priti; Santosh Kumar and wife Maya; Asha and her two children, Nanha and Jamni.
They were migrant labourers from Uttar Pradesh. The jhuggis were erected on government land and a private individual was charging rent from the jhuggi-dwellers.
The injured have been taken to hospitals at Nalagarh and Baddi while a few serious cases have been shifted to the PGI, Chandigarh.
