4 booked for cheating Baba Farid Society of Rs 1.58 cr

Faridkot, The district police today booked four persons, including two employees of Baba Farid Society, allegedly for Rs1.58 crore fraud.
Inderjit Singh Sekhon, chairman of the society, alleged two employees of the society, Gursewak Singh and Geeta Passi, siphoned off Rs1.58 crore in the last one year by tampering old bills and cheques.
In his complaint to the police, he alleged after committing the crime, the accused fled to the US in July. The police have deputed an SP-rank officer to probe the allegations and registered a criminal case against four persons.
Besides the society employees, their two relatives have been booked. It is alleged that the relatives, Vasudev Passi and Gurmeet Singh, had collected the money from the accused to invest it in real estate. The society is running three educational institutions in Faridkot and looking after the management of Baba Farid shrines in the town.
