Aam Aadmi Party MLA and Leader of opposition, H.S. Phoolka, today said that with a view to keep a check on the government and to ensure that no citizen is harassed in the state, Punjab Yatra has been planned.
“Why the Congress is perturbed over Punjab Yatra as it has never projected itself as people friendly and never connected with people through similar programme neither in Government nor in opposition.” Phoolka asked. It is surprising that Congress is criticizing such a programme meant for redressing grievances of general public.
Phoolka said that it is his role as a leader of opposition to go to the people and make an easy access of the common man with their problems to be highlighted at Vidhan Sabha and other platforms. “Instead of traveling hundreds of kilometers to come to Chandigarh with their issues, we are going and approaching the common man to know his problems, issues and grievances.” he said.
Phoolka said that this programme is akin to Sangat Darshan programme carried out by previous chief minister of the state. Further, Phoolka clarified that it is not a programme only for Aam Aadmi Party but a programme for citizens of Punjab where leader of opposition and other MLAs of Punjab to approach general public to redress their grievances, irrespective of any political affiliation, in Vidhan Sabha and other suitable platforms.
