I WON’T & ADVICE YOU DON’T INDULGE IN CORRUPT PRACTICES: RAZIA SULTANA

Mrs. Razia Sultana PWD Minister today made an emphatic appeal to all the officers of the department to work hard with unflinching sincerity and missionary zeal to execute the development works. She said that henceforth zero tolerance would be maintained against all forms of corruption. She categorically said that “I take pledge before you that I won’t indulge in corrupt practices and advice you all to observe 100 percent honesty and transparency in official work.”

She was  presiding over the a high level meeting of PWD department held at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) Chandigarh to review the progress of different development works. Executive Engineers and SDOs of different wings of the department took part in the meeting.

Disclosing this official spokesperson of the PWD department said that Minister issued set of instructions to the officers by which they have been asked to expedite the work on ongoing development projects and to complete all these projects within stipulated time frame strictly adhering to the high quality standards. Mrs. Razia Sultana also instructed the officers to desist from the practice of lobbying for getting preferential postings and transfers. She said that now onwards transfers and postings will be done purely on merit taking into consideration the hard work, sincerity, honesty and performance of the that particular officer.

Mr. Hussan Lal Secretary of the department asked the officers to share their innovative ideas and practices also the challenges they have been facing during the execution of the development projects. The issues pertaining to the problems of land acquisition, forest clearance and shifting of electricity poles were flagged by the officers. While other officers brought to the notice of the Minister issues like shortage of staff, irregular flow of funds and delay in promotions. Some of the officers requested the Minister to streamline the process of transfers and postings.

Replying to such queries the Minister said that the issue of forest clearance would be resolved soon as she already had a meeting with the forest Minister today in the morning and he has given assurance for taking an early call on this issue. She assured the officers that all the grievances put forth by them would be resolved soon by sympathetically considering all the genuine demands of the employees. Chief Engineer A.K. Singla was also present in the meeting.
