Hawara acquitted in another case

jagtar-singh-hawara_1461000969Ropar,  Babbar Khalsa terrorist Jagtar Singh Hawara was acquitted in another case here today. Additional District and Sessions Judge Sunita Kumari acquitted the terrorist in a 24-year-old case of murder of a special police officer in the absence of evidence.

Hawara, lodged in Tihar jail in Delhi for killing former Punjab CM Beant Singh, had been facing five criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, bomb blast near dera of Baba Bhaniarawala and Arms Act in the local court. He has already been acquitted in other four cases.
The case dated back to December 21, 1992, when SPO Sunil Kumar was shot during Shaheedi Jor Mela at Chamkaur Sahib. Constable Mohan Lal and Raj Kumar were injured in the incident. The district police had booked unidentified suspects under Sections 302, 307, 148, 149 of the IPC and Section 25 of Arms Act and TADA.
The police later identified Hawara, Surat Singh and Sarabjit Singh Bhojemajra as accused in the case. The other two accused have already been acquitted in the case.
