TORONTO — Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne has announced she will travel to the United States and China to promote trade and investment opportunities for the province.
Wynne will take part in the first-ever Summit of North American Governors and Premiers in Colorado Springs on Oct. 30-31.
She says it will be a chance to advance trade with the U.S. and Mexico, two of Ontario’s most important export markets.
After the summit, from Nov. 1-4, Wynne will visit Los Angeles and San Francisco. In San Francisco, the premier will promote the province as a partner in information and communications technology, while in L.A. she will explore opportunities for Ontario in the creative industries.
Wynne will then leave on a trade mission to China, following up on a similar mission last fall. From Nov. 5-14, the premier will be joined by business delegations and travel to Nanjing, Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.
A statement says the mission will highlight Ontario’s expertise in the science, clean technology, construction, engineering and agriculture, and promote partnership opportunities in health care and education.
“Ontario’s trade and investment relationships with the U.S. and Asia are critical to the success of our economy,” Wynne said in the statement.
“With this trip to the United States and business mission to China and Hong Kong, our government is working to solidify Ontario’s position as the North American leader in attracting foreign capital investment and creating new opportunities for Ontario businesses to export their products and services.”
