Toronto: Police say a worker has suffered life-threatening injuries after he fell into the back of a tar truck in the city’s east end and was scalded by tar.
It happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. near Danforth and Logan avenues.
Crews are currently working to extricate the man from tar inside the truck.
“We are talking about 400 degree tar inside that truck,” Const. David Hopkinson told Monday morning.
“He has been in there for a fair amount of time.”
Hopkinson said he believes crews are close to removing the man from the tar and the truck.
It is unclear how the man fell into the back of the truck.
Roads in the area are expected to be closed for the next few hours.
