Work on Bassian Kothi to start soon, says CM

Ludhiana, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said beautification and landscaping of the historic Bassian Kothi, also called Maharaja Dalip Singh Memorial, located near Raikot town in the district would start soon. He said experts from Punjab Agricultural University and other government departments will be roped in.
Accompanied by senior district administration officials, the Chief Minister visited the monument after attending the bhog ceremony of Jagteshwar Singh Talwandi, son of former MLA Ranjit Singh Talwandi.
The state government had engaged the services of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) for restoration work of the monument.
Speaking to the media, Badal said more than Rs 5 crore had already been spent on this project, which included a museum, an open air theatre and recreation area. A statue of Maharaja Dalip Singh had also been installed there, the CM added.
