Sangrur, Reacting to the registration of an FIR against unknown persons for obstructing the police in performing duty at the Vidhan Sabha during the recent Budget session, AAP state co-convener and Sunam MLA Aman Arora today said the party would not succumb to the government’s pressure tactics.
“Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh wants to threaten us by registering a false FIR like he did with SAD leaders in the Assembly by saying that he had a list of those involved in sand mining. But we are not like them and the CM cannot blackmail us. We are willing to facilitate our arrest if the police want,” said Arora, while talking to The Tribune at his residence in Sunam.
Arora questioned the double standards of the police in registering the FIR only on the complaint of a woman constable despite the fact that three AAP women MLAs were manhandled by the security staff of the Vidhan Sabha.
“AAP MLAs Sarbjit Kaur Manuke, Prof Barjinder Kaur and Rupinder Ruby were dragged out of the House by the security staff. But the police or the government never contacted them to record their statement. It shows their biased attitude,” he alleged.
Arora alleged that both the CM and the Speaker were responsible for what happened during the Budget session. They deliberately threw us out as we were cornering them on their failures, he said. “Protesting inside the Assembly is the right of the Opposition and we have done nothing wrong,” he added.
