Do you remember the woman who stood on top of Burj Khalifa to shoot an advertisement for the Dubai-based airline Emirates? Well, she stood atop the world’s tallest building again for the airline’s new advertisement – and this time she had the company of a massive A380 plane too.
The ad shows stuntwoman Nicole Smith-Ludvik, dressed in the outfit of the Emirates crew, standing atop Burj Khalifa while holding some placards. The first placard reads, “Fly the iconic Emirates A380 to the world’s greatest show.” Then, an A380 plane flies in the background. The advert ends with Nicole waving at the flight. Emirates new ad on Burj Khalifa
“The world’s greatest show brings friends together on top of the world’s tallest building. Enjoy a free Expo 2020 Dubai day pass with every ticket. Fly Emirates, Fly Better,” the airline said while posting the video on YouTube.
In a BTS video, the airline said that the A380 was flown 11 times around the Burj Khalia to get the shot where it flies past Nicole in the background. The plane was flown at the speed of 145 knots which is really slow for an A380.
Though the plane appears to be very close to Nicole, it was 0.5 miles away and at level with the top of the Burj Khalifa.
“This is one of the most exciting projects I’ve ever done. Thanks Emirates and the entire team,” Nicole said.
Needless to say, netizens loved the advertisement.
One user said, “Glorious – I’ve watched this many times and shared it, fantastic drone footage, amazing woman (I don’t have that courage!) – great filming & editing plus choice of music. In terms of inspiration, it doesn’t get better than this.”
Another wrote, “This is the probably the most ASTONISHING & AWE INSPIRING advertising feat I’ve ever seen!!!”
