Woman, child stuck in Saudi; agents scot-free

Nawanshahr, A mother-daughter duo has allegedly been duped by three agents who have sent them to Saudi Arabia instead of Malaysia. The family said the agents had taken Rs1.2 lakh from them.
Gurbaksh Kaur (43) and Reena Rani (23) of Garhi Fateh Khan village had left around two months ago to earn for the family.
Reena has sent a video to her family wherein she is seen crying and asking her brother to get them back home, else they would die.
Pakhar Ram (26), the elder brother of Reena, said: “We do not even know their location.”
Gurbaksh’s husband Gurmel Singh (50), who works as a labourer, had lodged a police complaint, demanding action against the agents. He alleged: “The agents told us that if I want my wife and daughter back, I will have to pay them Rs1 lakh along with the ticket cost.”
He said he had gone to Delhi, but could not find the offices of the agents. He told the police that two agents were from Jalandhar, while the third was based in Delhi.
Dalbir Singh, DSP, said an inquiry was going on and they would file a case once it was completed. “The agent had agreed to bring women back. We are waiting for their response,” he added.
