Patiala, Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has dubbed the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha as a “wasteful exercise”.
On a private visit to the city, Bhattal said “the SAD-BJP government did not allow the Opposition to raise major issues of common interest in the Assembly”. She said if the government was not serious about public welfare, “which appeared from the ornamental House session”, such exercises that entailed expenditure of taxpayers’ money should not be undertaken.
Bhattal alleged such sessions where the Opposition was not given an opportunity to raise issues concerning the people were of no good. She said there were a number of issues, including collapse of health infrastructure, urea shortage, drug menace and non-payment of dues to labourers, that needed to be addressed urgently.
