Toronto: TTC users will be able to connect their devices to the internet in four more TTC subway stations for free starting this Friday.
The TTC says four stations on Line 2 — Sherbourne, Castle Frank, Bathurst and Christie — will now offer Wi-Fi access, meaning the entire downtown “loop” of Line 1 and Line 2 from Sherbourne to Christie now offer internet connectivity.
BAI Canada, which installs wireless communication systems in transit networks, says it plans to have Wi-Fi available in all the TTC’s subway stations by early 2017.
Under an agreement with WIND Mobile, the TTC offers cellular data connectivity in the downtown stations of Line 1 as well as Spadina, St. George, Bay and Bloor-Yonge stations on Line 2.
BAI Canada says it will bring cellular data to 25 other TTC stations by the end of summer 2016.
Under a sponsorship deal with Twitter Canada that runs for the month of December, only TTC riders with Twitter accounts will be allowed to access the wireless network.
