h19

We all know that sitting for long hours is harmful for health, but most of us spend the bulk of our day in offices glued to the the screens for hours.

Research has shown that remaining seated for too long is bad for health, regardless of how much exercise you do.

Excessive sitting has also been linked to being overweight and obese.

A lot of studies have also indicated that people who spend more than six hours sitting each day are at higher risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

Sitting for long periods of time can negatively impact our brain – as this slows the flow of oxygen and blood to our brains, suppressing our ability to think clearly.

Useful tips and measures

But, if you do have to sit for long periods of time for work, make sure that you maintain correct posture and sit up straight. Note that poor posture can damage the back and shoulder muscles as well.
Avoid slumping forward at work to stare at your computer screen as this puts tremendous strain on the neck.
Try getting up from the sit and walk around your office for a few minutes. Doing this will keep the blood flowing while allowing your brain and muscles to function properly.

Use the stairs as much as possible instead of taking escalators in office.
