When Raj Kundra joked he runs multiple businesses as it is easier than dealing with Shilpa Shetty’s ‘nakhre’

Businessman Raj Kundra, who is currently in judicial custody for his alleged links to a porn racket, once joked that he runs multiple business ventures because of his wife, actor Shilpa Shetty. He made the revelation during an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show in 2016.

Host Kapil Sharma asked, ‘Itne zyada business sambhalne mushkil hai ki khoobsurat biwi ke nakhre (Is it more difficult to manage multiple businesses or put up with a beautiful wife’s tantrums)?’ Raj quipped, ‘Isliye toh main itne business karta hoon (Why do you think I run so many businesses?).’
On the show, Raj was also asked about his source of income. Kapil said he is seen playing football with Bollywood stars, going on exotic vacations and taking Shilpa shopping. ‘Bina kuch kiye paise kaise kamate ho aap (How do you earn money without doing anything),’ Kapil asked, as Raj, Shilpa and her sister Shamita Shetty burst out laughing.

Shilpa then defended Raj by saying, ‘Yeh galat fehmi hai. Woh itne hardworking hai, main bata nahi sakti. Woh nikalte hai 9.30 ko Viaan ko school chhod ke seedhe jaate hai office (This is a wrong notion. He is so hardworking. He leaves home at 9.30; he goes straight to the office after dropping our son Viaan to school) and he comes home…sometimes, he is working till 9.30-10.’

Shilpa and Raj got married in 2009. They have two children together–a nine-year-old son named Viaan and a daughter Samisha who was born via surrogacy last year.

Raj was arrested by the Mumbai Police last month for alleged involvement in the production and streaming of pornographic content via his Hotshots app. Shilpa reacted to the development only earlier this week. ‘Yes! The past few days have been challenging, on every front. There have been a lot of rumours and accusations. A lot of unwarranted aspersions on me cast by the media and (not so) well wishers as well. A lot of trolling/questions posed. not only to me but also to my family,’ she said in her statement.

Shilpa urged the media to respect the family’s privacy. ‘I am a proud law-abiding Indian citizen and a hardworking professional for the last 29 years. People have put their faith in ME & I’ve never let anyone down. So, most importantly, I request you to respect my family’s and ‘my right’ to privacy in these times. We don’t deserve a media trial. Please let the law take its course. Satyamev Jayate!’ she said.
