Chandigarh:21 June: As everywhere else at home and 192 countries of the world, International Yoga Day (IYD) was observed today at 85 military stations of Western Command today. About 3 lakh participants including officers, JCOs and their families, children and civilians participated in the event. GoC-in-C Western Lt.General K.J.Singh attended the event at Merath cantonement while at Chandimandir complex of the Western Command, Chief of Staff, HQWC, Lt. General Venugopal Menon supervised the Yoga exercise undertaken en masse by about 4500 personnel of the Indian Army including senior officers and their families. Yogi Naresh and Yogini Lata from Art of Living institution conducted the mega yogic exercises on this occasion. The program was followed by a medical camp for the health check up of all participants.
Meanwhile, IYD was celebrated at local12 Wing Air Force Station also wherein the AOC Air Commodore S K Inndoria himself and his wife Ms. Rakhi Indoria joined 600 air warriors in yoga exercises.
Besides, 4041 NCC cadets from various schools of the City Beautiful also took part in Yoga exercises to mark the observance of IYD.
