Even as Ugo Humbert had to wait before the start of his scheduled Wimbledon 2022 match against Casper Ruud on Wednesday, it still wasn’t enough for him to pack properly.
When Humbert stepped onto the court for his game which was already delayed due to rain, he realised he did not have a tennis racket.
The 24-year-old as a matter of last resort had to admit: “I don’t have any rackets – sorry for that.” This meant that the match had to be delayed further. However, the embarrassing moment for the Frenchman did not last long as someone came running with a few rackets and handed them over to him within minutes.
A short video of the incident has been shared by Wimbledon’s official page on social media. “Reminder: Tennis is tricky without rackets,” the clip has been captioned.

However, Humbert did not let the moment linger in his memory for long and played a great match. While he did lose the first set 3-6, he came back to win the next three sets 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 and clinch the round two match at Court 2. The victory in Round 2 match has set up Humbert’s match against David Goffin of Belgium in Round 3 which will happen on July 1.
As far as Goffin’s performance is concerned, he beat Argentine Sebastian Baez in three straight sets 6-1, 6-2 and 6-4
