Bangalore, The city civil and sessions court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of anticipatory bail petition filed by Karthik Gowda, son of Union railway minister Sadananda Gowda, who was accused of raping a 27-year-old cine actress after force marrying her, even as a non bailable warrant was issued against Karthik Gowda by VIII ACMM court.
Former advocate general, BV Acharya, who appeared for karthik Gowda, argued that there was no rape as alleged by the complainant since she had been insisting that both were married. After hearing the argument during the afternoon, has adjourned the hearing for Friday.
“Even the kidnap allegation by the victim is false as they both had travelled in different airplanes,” BV Acharya argued.
The non-bailable warrant in effect has been in force against Kathik Gowda as it takes effect from the day the case of rape is registered against him. “In effect, the police are supposed to collect the NBW from the court when the case is registered and first information report (FIR) is submitted before the court. Either the police can collect and be silent about it and straight away arrest the accused in rape cases. In this case, police seems to have been waiting for the outcome of anticipatory bail applied by Karthik Gowda,” a senior police officer said.
