Chandigarh, State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption, today nabbed a SDO of Jalandhar Development Authority red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 30,000.
Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Ashok Kumar SDO posted at Jalandhar Development Authority, Jalandhar was handed on the complaint of Bishanpal Singh, resident of village Chaheru, PS Sadar, Phagwara.
He added that the complainant has approached the Bureau and informed that the accused was demanding bribe of Rs. 50,000 to drop a notice for illegal construction of PG building in Cheheru, Phagwara and the deal was struck at Rs. 30,000/-.
The Spokesman informed that after verifying his information the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while accepting the bribe of Rs.30,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Jalandhar and further investigations was under progress.
