Vigilance nabs revenue Patwari accepting bribe of Rs. 40,000

Chandigarh, September 21: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a Revenue Patwari red handed accepting bribe of Rs. 40,000. Three persons have also been arrested by the Vigilance for helping in getting government job on compassionate basis.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Kulvir Singh Patwari posted at revenue halqa Jatana Kalan in Mansa district was nabbed red handed by Vigilance team for accepting bribe of Rs. 40,000 from complainant Jaspreet Singh of Maisor Khana, Bathinda district.

The Complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused Patwari was demanding Rs. 1,15,000 for mutation of his mother-in-law’s ancestral property and he had already paid Rs. 40,000 to him for the same whereas Rs. 40,000 would be handed over as second installment. He also informed that remaining amount to be paid after presentation of copy of mutation of land. After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused Patwari was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 40,000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation was under progress.

The spokesperson further informed that Vigilance today arrested two employees posted at PUNSUP Moga and one private person for helping the accused in getting government job on compassionate grounds on the basis of forged documents. He said accused Lal Singh posted as Chowkidar in PUNSUP depot Moga had altered his father name Gurdial Singh with his uncle Pritam Singh who have died in 2006 while on duty in PUNSUP. In this regard the Vigilance has registered a criminal case against the accused Lal Singh, Pritpal Singh Clerk, Rajinderpal Sharma Depot Manager (Retired) and Mukhtiar Singh Numberdar u/s 409, 420, 467, 468, 472, 120-B IPC and 13(1) (d) read with 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act at VB EOW police station Ludhiana.

The spokesperson added that Vigilance has arrested Lal Singh, Pritpal Singh Clerk, and Mukhtiar Singh Numberdar in this case and the other accused would be nabbed soon.
