Vigilance nabs ASI for taking bribe

Chandigarh, October 22: State Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posted at Basti Tenka Wali, Police Post Ferozepur red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 50,000.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Satnam Singh was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Jasbir Singh of village Toga Singh Wala in Ferozepur distirct. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused ASI was demanding Rs 1,00,000 in a criminal case registered by him and present challan in the court against the accused.

After verifying his information, the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot taking bribe of Rs. 50,000 as a first instalment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.
