Chandigarh, August 8: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 7000/-.
Disclosing this here an official spokesman of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Balbir Chand posted at Police Station Arniwala, district Fazilka was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Gursahib Singh resident of village Mullianwali district Fazilka. The Complainant has approached the VB that the accused ASI was demanding Rs. 7000 for helping him in a complaint case filed by the irrigation department.
After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs.7,000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses
. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Ferozepur and further investigations was under progress.
