Vigilance arrests Naib Tehsildar’s driver absconding with bribe money

Chandigarh December 28: Punjab Vigilance Bureau today apprehended and arrested Jagjit Singh Jagga who was driver of accused Naib Tehsildar Surinder Kumar Pabby and absconding with bribe money Rs. 1 Lac since the arrest of later in a vigilance trap on December 5 at Ajitwal in Moga district.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of State Vigilance Bureau said that a FIR No. 14 dated 5/12/2017 u/s 7 , 13(1)(d) r/w 13(2) of prevention of corruption act and 120-B IPC was registered against the accused Naib Tehsildar of Ajitwal and his private driver Jagjit Singh  Jagga for demanding and accepting Rs one lakh as bribe from complainant NRI and senior citizen Darshan Singh Sidhu for transferring his ancestral land records situated in Village Chuhar Chakk, Moga in his name.

He informed that though the culprit Naib Tehsildar was arrested on the spot but his driver Jagjit Singh Jagga along with bribe money of Rs. one lakh had escaped from the scene and was absconding since then.

The spokesperson added that the second accused in this case was today nabbed by vigilance Inspector Inderpal Singh in the vicinity of Golden Temple, Amritsar. He would be produced in SAS Nagar court tomorrow and further investigation was under progress to recover the bribe money.

He informed that Naib Tehsildar Surinder Pabby is now in judicial custody and he might be brought on production warrant to confront both the accused face to face during investigations.
